7/1/12 Hamble United V Hedge End Rangers.  After beating Hedge end at their ground 2 - 0 we knew what to expect and we got just that, there was no difference in their game and we had most of the possession creating a couple of early chances.  the game settled into some good football.  Our back row where playing really well and dealt with everything that came there way then late into the first half Hedge end where awarded a free kick, we switched off and they scored a sloppy and undeserved goal.

In the second half we continued to have most of the game without looking like scoring we had a couple of shoots on target but it wasn't to be then in the last few minutes of the game we conceded a second from a corner.  That was how it finished a disappointing start to the year against a team that should not have beaten us.  I'm saying that to often and lately and its wearing a bit thin we need to up our game an start taking our chances.

Final Score: Hamble United 0, Hedge End Rangers 2

MOM: Going to give it to Matt Curtis today always consistent and often over looked at centre back.

10/12/11 Hamble United V Riverside.  Tough game today against a side that have some very good footballers in their squad, its just a shame their conduct on and off the pitch doesn't reflect that.  We are down to the bare bones at the moment what with injures and work commitments, but once again we created opportunities without making the most of them, Riverside's first two goals had their element of luck but their third was a cracker.  We then pulled one back thanks to Sean Brown.

We were still in the game even at 1 - 3 down but then we had James Harley sent off for a second yellow which was harsh, the riverside player was screaming even before the tackle was made.  we continued to push and created opportunities hitting the crossbar and having one cleared of the line but Riverside hit us on the break and scored a couple more which even the ref said flattered them.  Never the less they deserved their win.

Final Score: Hamble United 1, Riverside 5

Hamble Goal Scorer: Sean Brown

MOM: Has to go to the Keeper he has been ill all week and still had a great game.

3/12/1 Hamble United V Wellow.  First time we have faced Wellow in the league and we only just beating them in the cup.  Another couple of changes this week due to sickness but we have a good squad of players to call on.  The atmosphere in the changing room is a lot better this year with players focusing on their game and listening (most of the time) to how we are going to play our game.

The match started at a fast pace and as in most of our game we dominated possession and created early chances.  Our two wide players had the legs on Wellows back row and where getting in behind them at will.  With the absence of big James Groves and Pesser only just coming back from injury Paul Richards again started and has fitted into the middle of the park well, its been a few years since Paul has played in our colours and its good to see him back.   Seb Allen started his second game after a year out and has already brought some banter into the dressing room which is always good.

Our first goal came from Sean Brown, Graz once again got in behind their left back and put a cross into their back post for Sean to volley home, a great ball and finish.  That set the tone for the first half with our front row taking every opportunity to run at Wellows defence.  During one of those runs Sean was brought down in the box and we where awarded a penalty.  Sean was told to take it and confidently slotted it home.   Wellow then pulled one back, in the past I would have been thinking here we go, but not anymore, with the way we play I knew there would be more opportunities for us and the next one came towards the end of the half.  Wellows keeper was clearing a back pass, Seb shut him down early and the clearance hit him in the a** and went in.

So the first half finished with us having a 3 - 1 lead.  With no changes made out we went for the second half.  Wellow where the first to get on the score sheet an pull another back, but that was their lot.  Sean brown again making one of his runs was again taken out by there centerback  unfortunately for him he received his second yellow and was sent off.  Sean again took his penalty well and got himself a hat trick on the day and just in case anybody else asks you only get to keep the match ball in the prem.

Our final goal came from a corner that Danny Martin got on the end of to head home at the back post.  Some good performances today If Browner can play like that every game scoring goals will not be a problem,  Good to see Nathan back and Pesser showing some aggression in the second half, another good performance from Joe (most have learnt something will playing on the dark side).  Danny Martin playing in two positions today and getting a goal, Jarid did a great job in the middle of the park and somebody who is normally over looked captain Matt Curtis has had his best season yet and is one of our most consistent players.  Well done to all of you lads.

Final Score: Hamble United 5, Wellow 2

Hamble Goal Scorers: Sean Brown 3, Seb Allen 1, Danny Martin 1

MOM: Two in the frame today Matt Curtis and Sean Brown but it has to go to Sean Brown a great game mate and three good goals.

26/11/11 Inmar V Hamble United.  First time we have ever played Inmar but they have been around for a while so can obviously play football.  We went out in a 4 - 3 - 3 formation which suits our game and we welcomed back Seb Allen who is hopefully going to change our goal scoring record.  We also had a new Keeper Chris Sayce who transferred from Good Companions.

The first half was all ours we gave them no time on the ball and where quicker all over the park, Matt Royl was doing a great job at centre back winning everything in the air.  Our first goal came early on from a corner Josh Chalkley made a run to the near post and head just inside to give us a deserved lead.  We continued to push and scored our second from a close range volley from Seb, scoring on his debut and that's how the half finished.  The team talk was we didn't need to push on in the second half just  keep our shape and take our chance when they came.  In hindsight that was the wrong thing to say that's not the way we play.  In the second half Inmar came back into the game both of their goals had their element of luck but a goals a goal.  Then we lost our keeper a short back pass was closed down by the Inmar striker and unfortunately he was cleaned out by our keeper who was doing his best to get to the ball first.  His first game and he didn't even finish it to say he was gutted is an understatement.

So with Jarid in goal we battled on and could have scored on a couple of occasions, but didn't.  Then three minutes from time Inmar got a corner,  we got a head to it which deflected the ball into the face of an Inmar player and went in.  So the final score was 2 - 2.  Yes a disappointing result but there where some good performances from Paul Richards, Seb Allen and Matt Royl and while he was on the pitch Chris Sayce in goal.

Final Score: Inmar 2, Hamble United 2

Hamble Goal Scorers: Josh Chalkley 1, Sebastian Allen 1

Man of the match:  Joe Harman made some great run's at left back.

19/11/11 Hamble United V Chamberlyne Athletic.   This was a case of taking your chances or not and once again we didn't.  Chamberlyne took a two goal lead after we dominated most of the first half, the two chances they had were converted.  Second half we pulled one back and continued to have most of the game and opportunities we had one cleared of the line and at least 6 clear chances to equalise and take the lead but our finishing has and continues to be woeful.   While pushing hard for a second goal they got their third and final goal.

Final score: Hamble United 1, Chamberlyne Athletic 3

Hamble Goal Scorer: Paul Lush

12/11/11 Hamble United V Wellow.   2nd round of the Roy Wightman Cup.  Wellow are in our league and had beaten our reserve side 4-3 to get to the second round.  So we wanted to get some revenge for the lads.  Over the last two weeks the discipline and focus shown by the players on match days has been brilliant.  But it wasn't there today before the game to many players where not focused on the team talk our mentally preparing themselves for the game and it showed in our performance.

From the whistle Wellow ran straight through the middle and had a shot on goal. but then we did the same straight from the keepers kick, Sean brown skinned the lad playing right back and scored past their stand in keeper.  James Harley scored our second on 15 minutes and we looked comfortable but as I said the focus wasn't there.  Wellow pulled one back from a free kick and we went into the break with a 2 -1 lead.  The team talk was about maintaining concentration and not giving them time on the ball.   The second started and they scored an equaliser.  We only had the one sub and I wanted to protect Sam's ankle so I swapped him for Paul Lush.  We then went on to score two more, the first from Jamie Lockhart's  head and the second from James Harley giving him two for the day.  With a 4 - 2 lead we should have been able to see the game out but we couldn't, again its all about discipline and focus we know we can play football but its the other stuff that turns you onto a consistent team.

Wellow where awarded a deserved penalty which Matt Merron saved twice as the ref judged him to have come of his line the first time.  Then they scored their third and final goal.  We deserved the win but it should have been a lot easier than it was.

Final Score: Hamble United 4, Wellow 3

Hamble Goal Scorers: James Harley 2, Sean Brown 1, Jamie Lockhart 1.

MOM: Joint today Sean Brown for his work down the left wing and James Harley for his endless work rate in the middle of the park well done lads.

5/11/11 Hamble United V Bournemouth Electric.  2nd round of the Hampshire Cup against a side that are flying in their respective league, having scored 31 in only 7 games.  So we were in for a tough game.  The line up was the same as last week after a great performance against Hedge End.  While our opponents where walking across to the pitch I heard one of the players comment that they thought they would be playing in an field, that was their first surprise then the same player commented that the goals where big and he was going to put a few into them today I then had to let him know that there wouldn't be much of that going on.

The game started really well with both teams working hard and creating only a handful of chances.  Our defence was as solid as we have come to expect, but so was theirs at half time it was nil nil but the team talk was to keep it tight and we would get our chances.  the second half was the same as the first end to end with limited opportunities for both team.  3/4 way into the second half it was evident that one goal was going to be enough to win.  Two minutes from time, from a corner the Bournemouth's striker created a bit of space for himself to head home.

We pushed hard to get the equaliser but run out of time.  It was a great performance all round and it's tough to go out that late in the game.  But you should all be proud of yourselves they knew the got the break that could have gone either way and where lucky to go away with the win.

Final Score: Hamble United 0, Bournemouth Electric 1

MOM: Second game and an outstanding performance at centre midfield James Harley well done mate.

29/10/11 Hedge End Rangers Res V Hamble United.  Hedge End went into the game in top slot and we went in with four new faces, after last weeks dismal performance players need to take responsibility and except that they will get dropped for poor performance and not playing how they are asked.

We had a very structured team talk before the game and ground rules set as to how players should play.  From the very beginning it was a tight game and possession was pretty equal.  The normal back row with Sam McMurray at left back were solid and James Groves was playing a very disciplined role in the middle of the park.  Slowly we started to create more opportunities, Hedge End where on the ref's back from the beginning and that was to do with the way we were playing rather than any fouls or dodge decisions.  Newbie James Harley took a little while to settle into the game but when he did he had an outstanding game, starting out wide right he set up James Groves for our first goal with a terrific cross which James headed home.  Our two strikers had opportunities but couldn't quite but one away Dean Parker never stopped running the whole half.  Off we came at the break 1 up.

Team talk consisted of maintaining our shape and keeping our work rate high. Also we needed to following up on the keeper as he never claimed a ball cleanly.  Sam McMurray asked if he could come of as he was blowing due to getting legless on the Friday night.  All of you need to be aware if that's the reason why any of you have to come off in future you will be dropped.

Out we went Hedge end through everything at us but we held firm, Sam was replaced at left back by Sam Perry and James Harley replaced him in middle field and on came young Callum Parker.  Hedge End had about twenty minutes of pressure in which time Conner made two great saves to maintain our lead.  We continued to have our chances and during one of them Callum chipped their right back for Josh to strike, the keeper managed to get his hands to it but as we said at half time he spilled it and Dean following up hit home to give us a well deserved two goal lead.  Shortly after their number 9 was given his second yellow card in the space of tens minutes and sent of for two malicious tackles that he could have quite easily seen a straight red for.

The whistle went a couple of minutes later.  It was a great team performance with everyone playing the way they were asked, the new lads but in great performances all round and we got our just reward breaking Hedge Ends unbeaten run.

Final Score: Hedge End Res 0, Hamble United 2

Hamble Goal Scorers: James Groves 1, Dean Parker 1.

MOM: Two of you will have to share it today James Groves for holding the middle of the pitch and Conner Bowdidge for two great save's.

15/10/11 Hamble United V Langley Manor.  Our first league meeting with Langley i don't have a lot to say other then Paul Lush gave us the lead and then scored a second only for the ref to give offside on the strength of the linesman's flag how a player can be offside after running past two full backs is beyond me and the lino new exactly what he was doing.  Second half was a different matter we caved in lost our shape completely they scored four goals.  There were some harsh words in the dressing room.

Final Score: Hamble United 1, Langley Manor 4

Hamble Goal scorer: Paul Lush.

8/10/11 Solent Saints V Hamble United.  Our second league game of the season against a team that have held there own in this league for a while, so we expected a tough game and that's what we go.  We didn't start anywhere near good enough second to every ball we found it difficult to get into our stride.  Solent took an early sloppy two goal lead and then Dan G went down with a reoccurring ankle injury which meant changing our shape and putting Paul 'Graz' Lush into right mid.  That changed our game completely, straight away he was running at their left back and was skinning him every time, our first Goal came from Nathan another 30yard effort that went top right then Billy pulled as level heading home at the back post.  We went into the break 2 - 2.

This was anyone's game but we where not playing at our best, Solent again came out the brighter and again with another sloppy goal took the lead.  but we dug in and after changing things again by putting some pace out on the left hand side we got our reward Jarid set up Josh to once again pull us level and that's the way it finished, a fair result on the day.  Danny G will be out of action for a few weeks with his ankle but we have enough quality in the squad to be able to deal with that.

Final Score: Solent Saints 3, Hamble United 3

Hamble Goal Scorers: Nathan Henry 1, Paul Bathgate 1, Josh Chalkley 1

MOM: Two this week for his passion and commitment for the game Dan Martin and for the way he changed the game and our performance today Paul lush.

1/10/11 Sandhurst sports V Hamble United.  Hampshire Cup against a side that seemed to be doing well in their league, but we knew nothing about them.  On the hottest October day for years we drove up to Camberley in a mini bus for a good day out.  We found the ground eventually and then had to wait for an u16's match to finish before we could start.    Sandhurst were not a bad side and could knock the ball about.  The game was pretty much end to end for the first 30 minutes without any team getting a clear opportunity.  Then Dan G picked the ball up on the left hand side and ran the right back into the ground with Billy calling for the ball as he made his run into the box, Dan put a great ball across and Bill didn't need to do anything but guide the ball home to give us a 1 - 0 lead at the break.

Second half we went out determined to get a good result, our second goal was a blinder from Nathan Henry 30yards out he beat the ball top left with the keeper looking on in amazement.  Josh set Nathan up for his second and finally Lockie coming on for Matt Royl at right back made a great run down the line cutting the ball back to the 18yard box for Jarid to rifle home.  Our fitness paid of in the second half and we took full advantage coming out justifiable winners.

Final Score: Sandhurst Sports 0, Hamble United 4

Hamble Goal Scorers: Paul Bathgate 1, Nathan Henry 2, Jarid Hixon 1

MOM: for a truly fantastic goal Nathan Henry, keep them coming mate.

It has to be said that the lads represented the club will today, their behaviour was exemplary and i would like to thank Chris and Sandhurst sports for their hospitality on the day.

24/9/11 Good Companions V Hamble United.  2nd round of the Roy Wightman Cup.  A few changes today because players have taken holidays,  Big Matt Royl stepping in at right back and Jamie Keytes playing upfront on the left side in a 4-3-3 formation and big Phil Day in goal after Conner volunteered to go on the bench as our one and only sub.  The game settled into a good pace with us getting most of the possession and goal scoring opportunities.  The lads seemed more focus this week which was a vast improvement on last week as we gave that game away.  Two of the three central midfielders were playing out of position, but they did a great job controlling the game and with some great passing created several goal scoring opportunities for our strikers.

Our first goal came from a long ball from Matt Royl to put Dan Gregory in on goal he slipped the ball past the keeper low to his left side.  The second came curtesy  of a great ball from Jamie Keytes low and hard across the six yard box for Josh Chalkley to slot home.  We went into the break 2 up.

The second half started much the same as the first finished. But 10 minutes in Danny G came off suffering from a blow to the head and Conner Dowdidge got his chance up front,  We also changed our shape as we didn't need to chase the game so Jamie dropped back to make it 4-4-2.    With us continuing to dominate the game our third goal came from a cross from Jarid Hixon which Josh headed on and Conner putting it in the net at the back post.  Our last goal came from a individual display of pure brilliance from Paul 'Graz' Lush he danced around three players chipped the last one, rolled the ball down his back and smashed it home.

The score today could have been a lot higher if it wasn't for a great display of goal keeping from Good Companions keeper he was outstanding.

Final Score: Hamble United 4, Good Companions 0

Hamble Goal Scorers: Dan Gregory 1, Josh Chalkley 1, Conner Bowdidge 1 and Paul Lush 1.

MOM: there were a few good performances today but one stuck out, that of Dan Martin a great display.

17/9/11 Hamble United V Langley Manor.  2nd round Junior 'A' cup against a team in our league. We scored within the first few minutes Sean Brown hitting home, then practically straight away Langley equalised heading home at the near post.  this was a poor game of football which we should have dominated we did in places but there was far to much long ball being played and this spoiled the game.  Langley took the lead just before the break.  We might as well not have had a team talk as the game continued in the same vain.  Langley scored their third and final goal and that looked the end of it as we didn't look like we wanted the win, then Jarid but a great ball through for Sean Brown to run onto and score our second.  We had more than enough opportunities to win this game but it wasn't to be and I think Langley would agree with that.

A very poor performance on our part which we need to put right for next week.

Final Score: Hamble United 2, Langley Manor 3

Hamble Goal scorer: Sean Brown 2

MOM: James Groves another solid performance at left back

10/9/11 AFC Freemantle V Hamble United.  First round of the Ron Wightman Cup today against a team that we have played every season.  We had another change of formation today in order to create some space on these very small and smelly pitches.  It took a little time to settle into the game but once we did we started to dominate.  10 minutes in we were awarded a free kick just inside our half Matt Curtis floated the ball into the 6 yard box for Billy to knock on and Dan Gregory to hit home.

10 minutes later Freemantle equalised against the run of play.  But that didn't last long, on the half hour Matt Curtis launched one of his long throws again into the six yard box for Billy to get on the end of,  this time taking the glory and giving us a 2 - 1 lead into the break.

During half time we spoke about the three midfielders not playing to deep and creating even more space which we did from the whistle.  Our three strikers Sean Brown, Dan Gregory and Paul Lush were getting in behind their defence practically at will.  Both Sean and Paul had put in a good shift and we replaced both of them with Josh Chalkley and Gary Rowe.

Dan scored his second on 15 minutes and new boy Josh ''chalky' got his first on 20 minutes coolly slotting the ball home low to the keepers right.  Then the unthinkable happened Sam 'pezzer' Perry beat the cover off the ball after in rebounded off the post and scored are 5th goal.  By this time most of the Freemantle players had given up the ghost.  Then late into the half Freemantle stopped playing thinking they should have had a free kick. All those years of shouting play to the whistle paid off, Dan Gregory did just that he went round two stationary players to beat the keeper giving him his hat trick and us a comfortable 6 - 1 victory.

The change in formation meant that the game didn't always flow as well as it normally would but changing our shape helped us get this win today.  Having a group of lads that listen to what is being said and play the way they are asked is great.  I have to mention Josh stepped up to the first team today and took on board everything that was said to him, well done mate.

Final Score: AFC Freemantle 1, Hamble United 6

Hamble Goal Scorers: Dan Gregory 3, Paul 'Billy' Bathgate1, Josh Chalkley 1, Sam 'pezzer' Perry 1.

MOM: For his work rate on and off the ball and his hat trick, Dan Gregory.  Nice to see you enjoying your football again mate.

3/9/11 Hamble United V QK Soton.  Our first league game and it seemed a long time coming.  QK where newly promoted with us this year and last season we both had wins in each of the home games, so we knew each other quite well.  As always with QK we new we had a tough game ahead but we are well prepared for this season and are confident we can match any side.  From the start we matched them physically.  The back row were once again solid and the central mid-fielders battled hard winning practically everything in the air and with the wide players hugging the line we continued getting in behind and creating chances.  Our first goal came from Sean 'Browner' Brown who worked hard on the left and was instrumental in more than one of our opportunities.

This wasn't the prettiest game of football and that was fine, we have to be able to change the way we play in order to get a result and we did that today.  We went into the break 1 up and the team talk centred around more of the same, we new they would come out fighting in the second half and they did just that but we dealt with everything they through at us.  We made our first change 10 minutes into the second half replacing Gary Rowe with Paul Lush giving us fresh legs on the right as Gary had run himself into the ground, the second change was to replace Jarid Hixon who had worked hard upfront with Nathan Henry this was a change in formation.  30 minutes into the second half we scored our second, Nathan hit a ball hard and low across the six yard box for Danny Gregory to guide home.

Then we made our last change taking off a happy Sean Brown in favour of Sam McMurray.  QK continued to try and get back into the gate and they managed to pull one back with a great strike that Conner never stood a chance with.  Although that gave them renewed enthusiasm that was the only chance they where to get and the game finished with a well deserved victory.

The only down side to the game was a yellow card for our gentle giant at left back James Groves, which I think he was secretly pleased with.  All in all a great start to our campaign against a team that I expect to do well this season.  We had more than enough opportunities today to have scored 4 or 5 one even rolled across the crossbar.  but I will always be happy with 3 points.

Final Score: Hamble United 2, QK 1.

Hamble Goal Scorers: Sean Brown 1, Danny Gregory 1

MOM: Can't choose so you will have to share it.  Well done lads all we need to do now is keep it up.

27/8/11 Our last pre-season friendly was against Compton's 1st team from junior 1.  For this one we changed our formation playing 3 - 5 - 2 which meant we had a few players out of position, but we need to be able to adapt our game and friendly's are the place to try them.  we started well and where first to every ball, then the Compton manager changed his formation to mirror ours in midfield by pulling a striker back into the middle which made it easier for our three defender's who weren't really tested. On one of the rare occasions Danny Martin gave away a penalty which Compton missed, hitting the post to Conners right.

The game settled into a very good pace which we were having the better of, with James Groves sitting just if front of a back row of Matt Curtis, Danny Martin and Jamie 'Lockie' Lockhart getting passed these lad's mean's you need to be extra quick and incredible strong.  In the middle of the park we are blessed this year with and abundance of quality Nathan Henry, Sam Perry and battling Paul 'Billy' Bathgate and playing wide Paul Lush and Danny Gregory.  Up top I have a very difficult choice with Jarid Hixon, Gary Rowe scoring twice during his chance up top Josh Chalkley also scoring twice and finally Barry 'Baz' John and Dean Parker scoring one a piece today and again with keepers which is made easier in the short term because of injuries, we have four great keepers Big Phil Day and Aaron Mclean both currently have injuries and then Conner Bowdidge and Matt Merron .  We also have players that had a run out for the reserves today Sean Brown who scored on his second game for the first and 'mad' Sam Mcmurray.  the list goes on with players in the reserves all more than capable of play in the first's, we should have a good season and that's both teams.

It was a great all round performance  today lad's, but we have to maintain this level if we want to push on and that only comes with discipline and hard work.

Final Score: Hamble United 2, Compton 0

Hamble Goal Scorers: Barry 'Baz' John 1, Dean Parker 1

MOM: Sorry can't choose one, so I will give it to all 14 of you, well done lads keep it up.

21/8/11 Second game of the weekend indeed for some of the team it was their third,  which is not good.  We had five first team out for this one never the less the lads that played up did a great job.  KRL are a good strong side who should do well in their league.  We can't take to much notice of this game purely because of the fatigue most of the team were showing which meant we didn't give a great account of ourselves.  The lads didn't stop working are trying to get those tired legs going and for a good part of the game it was pretty much even.  Josh scored two good goals but eventually KRL took the upper hand finishing 4 - 2 winners on the day.

Final Score: Hamble United 2, KRL 4

Hamble Goal Scorer: Josh Chalkley 2

MOM: For his endless work rate and passion for the game Danny Martin.

20/8/11 Riverside Reds today from junior 3.  This was a wake up call for us, they are very physical and at times very cynical in their challenges and for the first twenty minutes we didn't deal with it subsequently we  found ourselves 2 nil down.  Playing sides at a higher level there is a greater focus an playing football rather than the ugly side of the game. But if that's what comes your way you have to adapt your game quickly and deal with it.  Once we settled into the game we created several opportunities of our own which but Riverside on the back foot.

We came out in the second half knowing that we could out play them and we did, making strong challenges of our own balanced the game out.  thanks to some hard work we drew level with goals from Paul (Billy) Bathgate and Sean Brown.  it looked like the game was going to finish a draw but for a wonder strike from a Riverside midfielder.  A draw would have been a far result but their third was a very good goal.  Riverside will have a great season if they can keep all their players on the field, which I doubt very much.  For us we need to get into a game faster than we did today, we had a couple of players missing but that is no excuse for today.

Final Score: Hamble United 2. Riverside 3

Hamble Scorers: Paul (Billy) Bathgate 1. Sean Brown 1

MOM: Today Im giving it to the Referee a tough game to control well done Lee.

13/8/11 Veracity Vipers where are opponents today from Junior 1.  A couple of positional changes today proved how good a squad of players I have.  Vipers are a strong side but we dealt with everything that came our way in the first half they were limited to one shot on target.  We on the other had created several opportunities converting three of them.  The first falling to Jarid then Nathan with the second and finally Gary.

Half time team talk was to expect them to come out strong in the second half and to make sure we kept our shape.  Which we did for most of the time unfortunately we again suffered from individual error's but not before Gary gave us our fourth and final goal,  Vipers pulled two back late on but we deserved the win.

Final Score: Hamble United 4. Veracity Vipers 2

Goal Scorer's: Jarid Hixon 1, Nathan Henry 1, Gary Rowe 2

6/8/11  Our second friendly was against Bishopstoke WMC from the premier league.  The day didn't start very well as six of the first team had to play for the reserves side in the morning, then with 45 minutes break they were back on the pitch.   But its fair to say we had most of the clear cut opportunities in the first half, we hit the post 4 times had a couple of one on one's with the keeper that we didn't convert.

The second half was slightly different.  With some of the players running out of puff.  Bishopstoke scored two goals due to individual error's, but the lads still worked had and we pulled one back with Josh beating the keeper.  All in all we proved we can compete at this level, Bishopstoke if their honest went home thinking they got lucky.

Final Score: Hamble United 1. Bishopstoke WMC 2

30/7/11 Our first pre-season friendly against Braishfield from junior 1.  We have lots of new players this year and today was their first competitive game.  Braishfield proved to be a good work out.  But for the first time in a long time we had a squad of players wanting to play for each other and not just for themselves.  I think its fair to say we had most of the game.  With every player working hard to shut Braisfield down when they had possession and then looking composed on the ball. The whole team looked balanced even with the changes made.

Dan Gregory played a great game at left mid scoring both goal, one with his feet and the other with his head.  Every player on the pitch today was brilliant and I cant say enough good things about the individual and team performance.

I can't pick a man of the match as there are 16 of them:  Phil, Conner, Sam McMurray, Matt, Dan Martin, James, Lockie, Nathan, Sam Perry, Dan Gregory, Jarid, Gary, Dean, Josh, Callum and Alfie.

Lets hope we can continue to build on this result and get a flying start to the season.

Final Score: Hamble United 2. Braishfield 0

Goal Scorer: Dan Gregory 2.
