SATURDAY  8TH OCTOBER 2011 HAMBLE UNITED RES  V  RIVERSIDE RES JUNIOR 5 LEAGUE MATCH REPORT

PLAYERS: Dane Jones, Lewis Bowers, David Lloyd, Sam Clarke, Barry john was the back four, midfield was Ryan Godfrey, Gary Rowe and Sam Mc Murray and upfront was Dean Parker and James Shirley.  SUBS: Mark Ross, Aaron Elder

Our normal keeper went to first team this week, so  we had Aaron McLean going in goal for us. But when we were all warming up Aaron McLean got a bad knock to the knee, which put him out off the match before we even started (hope he will be ok, as he's a good keeper) So I had to use one off our players. The only player that came forward was Dane Jones, as he said he been in goal before, and was happy to play in goal for us,(so I said ok) which meant I had to change the team round,

When the game started i couldn't believe what I was looking at, it was a whole new team out there, they was playing 3 touch football all over the park, and in the first 5 minutes we had  5 corners, but they never came to any goals, but there was so much pressure on riverside, they didn't now what hit them, But in the 25th minute Luke Gibbs got a knock to his knee and had to come off so I replaced him with Mark Ross.

Then in the 30th minute Sam Clarke passed the ball to Dean Parker who then took the ball round 3 players and fired home a goal,(it was well taken)well done Dean.

The game was still very tight, as we were only 1 goal up. Then Gary Rowe had a couple of shots, which there keeper saved, so did Sam McMurry, but in the 40th minute Lewis Bowers made a mistake at the back (it could have happened to anyone) and they scored to make it 1 – 1.

When the lads came off at half time. I told them they are playing very well and we should have been winning the game, but keep going till full-time, they were all up for this game.  We went back out for the second half and it was like the first half, we had couple more shots that went wide, or just over the bar.  Then out of nowhere one off riverside players chipped Dane Jones he was on the 18 yard box and it was going into the goal from where i was standing.  But somehow Dane Jones ran back and jumped with his arm out, grabbed the ball and hit it wide (that was a premiership keeper save in my eyes, well done Dane).  After that there was about  10 minutes left in the game, we had more shots on goal, but there keeper kept them in the game with some good saves to.  Ryan Godfrey had a shot on target to but there keeper saved, further chances fell to Mark Ross, Gary Rowe, Dean Parker and Sam McMurray in the last minutes. But then the ref blow his whistle for full-time.

I would Like to say well done to all who played in this game,  the team is coming together strong now ,couldn't ask for more, best game I have played in this year, so keep it up lads,

Final Score: Hamble United 1, Riverside Reds res 1

Hamble Goal Scorer: Dean Parker

MOM: All, but one stood out for all of us which was Dane Jones with some fantastic saves in the game, (Well done Dane for stepping in very well done mate)

SATURDAY  24TH SEPTEMBER 2011-09-11 HAMBLE UNITED RES  V  WELLOW ROY WEIGHTMAN CUP

PLAYERS: Matt Merron, Lewis Bowers, David Lloyd, Nathan Henry, Michael Harrison was the back four, midfield was  Mark Ross, Dan Ross, Gary Rowe and James Shirley, and upfront was Dean Parker and Jamie Johnson, SUBS: Barry John, Sam Clarke, Aaron Elder

We started the game on time at 2.30pm kick off, The game was going well from the start, as we was playing a four, four, two, But in about the first ten minutes Wellow got a break through, and opened the scoring to make it 1-0.  The team was working hard to fight back, and it was getting very tight, we had a couple of chances but still didn't manage to find the back off the net, but the lads was still pushing for the equalizer, but then in the 30th minute Michael Harrison got a knock to the head, So we got him off the pitch to see if he was ok, we gave him a couple off minutes to see if he could carry on playing, which meant we was with ten men on the pitch, Mr D Rowe checked him out just in case we had to send him to the hospital, but he said he was fine, but still a bit dizzy, so i made the decision to make a sub, which I put Sam Clarke on in midfield and Gary Rowe into right-back. By the time the lads settled down to there position again, we conceded another goal, just before half-time, when the lads came off at half-time i told them I was changing the whole formation as we was 2-0 down.

So I made another sub and put Barry john(player/manager) on into centre-back, Lewis bowers right-back and David Lloyd left-back, in midfield i had Mark Ross, Dan Ross, Gary Rowe, Nathan Henry, and James Shirley, and up front Dean Parker And Jamie Johnson, which meant the formation was a Three, Five, Two.

When we started the second-half, we had a lot of the play and were putting pressure on Wellow, the boys were working very hard to fight back, then in the 60th minute we got a break through which Jamie Johnson fired home our first goal, So we were back in the game being 2-1 down.  Fair play to all the lads they never gave up, and still fighting for the equalizer yet again, in the 75th minute Mark Ross smashed the ball against one of there players and got a WICKED DEFLECTION, from about 30 yards, and with a stroke off luck it went into the back off there net, which made it 2-2.

So the last 15minutes we pushed for the win, Sam Clarke went close with a header, Nathan Henry just put one wide, but in the end it stayed 2-2 at full-time, which meant we had to go into extra-time.

When the lads came off at full-time they where yet again very tired, and said NOT AGAIN, as we played extra-time and penalties last time out, but fair play to them all, they went back out there and gave it there all.  In the first-half off extra-time the game was still very tight, but in about the the 100th minute they scored to make it 3-2, yet we had most off the play.  But then out of nowhere Dean Parker managed to get hold of the ball, 2 minutes later in the 102nd minute and scored his first goal for the club, very happy for him, which made it 3-3 and made it to halt-time in extra-time at 3-3.  When we went back out for the second-half of extra-time, it was anyone's game, so we started to push again for the winner, but then Mark Ross got injured, so we put Aaron Elder on as a sub, when he came on he played well it was the first time at playing right-midfield/  In the 117 minute they scored to make it 4-3, so we had three minutes of the game left, to try and take it to penalties, but in the end there wasn't enough time left in the game, so the end result was 4-3 to Wellow

Well done to all the players, yet again you tried your hardiest, i couldn't ask for more,  ALL OF YOU DONE REALLY WELL AND THEY ARE A JUNIOR 2 SIDE,AND 3 DIVISONS ABOVE US, so you all can be proud off yourselves, We shall do very well in the league this year, we have a settled side now and with a couple new players coming in things are looking good.

As for man of match, i would have gave it to all off you, but the one that stood out the most, and played a very good game was Gary Rowe, so well done,

SATURDAY 10TH SEPTEMBER 2011, HAMBLE UNITED RES  v  UPHAM RES (JUNIOR B CUP) MATCH REPORT

PLAYERS: Matt Merron, Lewis Bowers, Sam Clarke, Matt Royal, Aaron Elder, were the back four, midfield was Jamie Ketyes Mark Ross, Dan Ross and James Shirley, and upfront was Dean Parker and Jamie Johnson.  SUBS:  Barry John, Phil day

We started the game 15 minutes early. The game was going well, but in the 20th minute UPHAM RES scored the first goal, the game was getting very tight, but the boys held out till half time, then I made changes to the team.  I took off Aaron Elder and put on Barry John (manager/player) and went to a three, five ,two, which made us stronger in midfield, the game was going well, but it was still a very close game. Then we had a problem as Jamie Johnson got injured in the 60th minute and the only sub I had left was Phil Day who was a goalkeeper, so I put him on upfront as he said he could play there to fill in and he did a good job for the team. Then in the 73 minute Dean parker put the ball through to Barry John and he scored to make it 1 -1.

The boys were working well as a team, and doing there very best, and we held out till full-time, which meant we had to go into extra-time. We stuck to the same formation going into extra-time a three five two, both sides was getting tired, but all were still trying.  After the first 15 minutes off extra-time I made another change and took Matt Merron out off goal and put Phil day in goal and put Matt Merron into midfield for fresh legs in the second half off extra-time, fair play to all the lads they battled on and never gave up and we made it to penalties.  As we all know penalties is a lottery and in the end we lost it 3 - 4

I would to say well done to all the lads that played, you all worked really hard, so well done, keep the good work up, so many thanks

Barry John (manager/player)

Final Score: Hamble United 1 (pen's 3) Upham Res 1 (pen's 4)

Friendly: Saturday 20th August               Hamble United Res v Cricket (Fair Oak) FC      Score: 0-2

This was going to be a chance to put out a side that we were more than likely to start our season With. Unfortunately certain players failed to let me know that they were unavailable to play and therefore we had to make changes to the team, having said that the team didn’t seem to have the same grit and determination as the previous game so we were under pressure early.  We kept the same players in defence that played so well together the week before for a repeat performance, but the opponents were set up differently and we found it hard to keep our shape. We shouldn’t take this one bad game as a need to make changes because I still believe that the defence Sam, Lewis, Mike and Lloydy are still the guys to take us into the new season.

One of the changes was in the midfield and it was the holding midfield player that was missing but Gary Rowe stepped up to the plate and did the best he could but it’s not his normal position, it didn’t help having the attacking midfielder callum not playing his normal self.  Because he had already played a full game that morning, which meant that he found the pitch to be very much larger than it was, due to lack of energy.  The two wide men Alfie and Keytes played well but Alfie in particular found that the opponents were very quick and strong so it meant he didn’t have the space to play as normal unlike Keytes who I think starting to rediscover the form that he had a couple of years ago when he was a great asset to have on the left side and with his fitness levels increasing will come just at the right time for the start of the season.

The two strikers James and Dean also found it hard going to find the time and space to drive forward and give there keeper trouble, but to be fair the service was not quite there and they had to go look for the ball deep.  But after all that we did improve in the second half and had a few chances to get back in the game but to no end.

On summery; we have still got a bit to learn about the players we are playing with and tactics.

Friendly: Sunday 14th Aug Hamble Res v New Forest Eagles

This was going to be a stern test for the reveres and in the first ten minutes they attacked with quick flowing moves but we adapted quickly and we defended really well. Considering that when we turned up to the game and found that we were let down by a couple of players and that changes had to be made to the back four.

But the guys who played in the Back four for the first time together didn’t let us or themselves down as the unit worked really well together and had a great understanding with one another and with the benefit of a solid keeper behind them allowed them to find there feet. So Congrats Mike, Sam C, Lewis, Lloydy and Conner. Also I think that Baz made the right choice to give the captain’s arm band to Sam as he lead well.

Having the defence working well was backed up by a good solid performance from the Midfield in which Tommy playing a holding role in the middle which gave Callum the rein to link with the two strikers. The two wide men Keytes and Alfie were great at getting forward to supply and back to assist the fullbacks who gave us a complete defending and attacking force.

As the first half came to a close the score was 2-0 which both goals were hit by Jamie Johnson who work rate was great and although Jamie and James took a while to get used to one another it all clicked second half.

When the second half started they came at us and we were a bit complacent at first but once everyone got back into the formation we began to compose ourselves and get back into the game again. After James a spell out of the game he came back on to change his fortunes by knocking in a splendid hat trick.

Also the subs that came on during the game showed that they can blend in to the team and maintain the formation and style of play that was currently being played. So congrats to Rob, Gary and Both Aarons, with Aaron the Goalkeeper making some great saves considering he had only just come on.

Barry and I were very pleased with the effort and ability to control the game WELL DONE LADS

On Saturday the Res played there first friendly of pre-season against AFC Soton. We started well with all the players looking up for the challenge and it went well.

There were a few steady players who looked like they were happy to be in there positions. Also the two youngsters Alfie and Callum really looked as if they were playing mens football for awhile. The back four looked together and defended well, the midfield took a little time to get going but soon started to link the back to front well.

For man of the match there were a few players in the running but the player that took my eye was Jamie Johnson did very well in picking up the ball deep and then linking with the front line and driving forward as well as working hard to get the ball back.

Well done lads good start to our development, but we still have things to improve on. I look forward to training Tuesday.
