HAMBLE UNITED u18 'a'

4/5/08 Hamble United V St Francis Phoenix. This was it, the last game of the season and we needed the win to secure the league title. The lads turned up focused on the game which made a change, as we should have won the league two games ago. St Francis signed on two players for the last game and they were both pretty good players as Danny Bellows new them from college. But would they make a difference, the answer to that was yes. This was a physical match and St Francis did their best to distract our strikers. We seemed to have most of the possession but couldn't find the net which is what we have been suffering from in the last two games. Neither the less we took the lead with what Gary Rowe described as, a back pass they all count and some times that is all that's needed. Half time came and the team talk consisted of more of the same please keep it tight in midfield and more will come. Well it took its time Danny Lynch went on to replace Mike Bessant (mike was getting a little close and personal with one of their defenders) upfront and got himself on the end of a cross from the left just heading it over the keeper for Shahin to get his head on and finish it off 2 - 0. we had more opportunities but the first time shooting that they love in training wasn't there during the match. With about eight minutes to go St Francis scored there one and only goal, that's what happens when players take their foot off and we have been guilty of that at times. Then came the most dramatic incident of the game we had just cleared from a corner when a St Francis player tried to get an overhead shoot away but DANNY GREGORY did what we have come to expect from our back row this year and got his head in where it hurts. Dan cleared the ball but got a foot in his face in return. We made our final sub as Dan wasn't fit to continue his eye was a big as an apple after a visit to A&E he's ok and judging by his BeBo website is loving the attention. We will have photos on this web site as soon as Sharon sends me them. Anyway the whistle went just after and you guessed it, we are
Final Score: Hamble United 2,St Francis Phoenix 1
Hamble Goal Scorers: Gary Rowe 1, Shahin Bani-sadr 1
Man of the Match: Can't give it to one this week. Since changing our formation our back row have been immense the injury to Dan is something that they are prepared to suffer to do their job and for the team. Dan Gregory, Matt Curtis and Ben Pointer.
I personally would like to offer a big thank you to my mate Derek Bridgewater who's fitness training has made a huge difference to the players this year, we are by far one of the fittest teams in the league and To Derek Rowe who for the last few months has help me with the training. Then there's Sharon Craddock who is always there to treat the injured and not just our own and finally all of our supporters to many to mention, but the lads love having you there as do I. long may it continue.

29/4/08 Hamble United V Bashley. All we needed was a point from this match but you guessed it we never got it. A lack of discipline in the way we play cost us again. Their two goals were sloppy to say the least but they went in to the break 2 up. After getting a roasting at half time nothing changed much, Andy Dingwall was cleaned out by three Bashley players and is waiting to see if he has a fractured nose. Danny Bellows was put in the middle and the game changed for us, the last twenty minutes we were all over Bashley we hit the post two goal mouth scrambles but we left it two late. Dan Bellows scored our only and the best goal of the match from 25yards. We still need three points to win the league and one match to do it in.
We had an extended chat at training on Tuesday and hopefully the lads will have got the message. If you all turn up in the right frame of mind things will hopefully go our way, if you don't ???????
Final Score: Hamble United 1, Bashley 2.
Hamble Goal Scorers: Danny Bellows 1
Man of the Match: Once again Matthew Camfield.

27/4/08 Hamble United V S & D 'B'. S & D have struggled to get a full team for most matches this season but they did against us today. They had an opportunity to open the scoring with a penalty, only to put it wide. Andy Dingwall then put us a head on the half hour. Then Shahin Ban-sadr made it two, put with five minutes to go S & D pulled one back. The team talk this week was a little harsher than the last one, as everything we did last week we weren't doing today. Out we went for the second half and Mike Bessant made it 3-1. Then came the comeback with two goals tying the game, one of the goals falling to Tom Smith a lad I had the pleasure of managing for a couple of years at windsor.
Not the best performance put a point is better than none. We should consider ourselves lucking today. If S & D had been able to get a full squad every week they would have been competing for one of the top places in this league.
Final Score: Hamble United 3, S & D 'B' 3
Hamble Goal Scorers: Andy Dingwall 1, Shahin Bani-sadr 1, Mike Bessant 1
Man of the Match: Matthew (cammy) Camfield one of our most consistent players this season.

20/4/08 Hamble United V Oakley. We had beaten Oakley twice this season but they are by no means a push over. We changed our formation this week and what a different game. Our first goal came from a backwards header from Mike Bessant then Shahin Bani-sadr hit a 25yrs screamer just under the bar to make it two. Matt Curtis used his long throw to good effect reaching the back post to give Andy Dingwall the chance to volleyed home for our third. Three nil at the break the team talk consisted of more of the same just keep your shape and discipline and there will be more to come. the second half started with Mike Bessant opening the scoring by lobbing the keeper. he then went on to score another two. Further goals coming from Danny Lynch, Gary Rowe and Andy Dingwall. This was the best performance this season, only 4 games left keep this up and the league will be yours.
Final Score: Hamble United 9, Oakley 0.
Hamble Goal Scorers: Mike Bessant 4, Andy Dingwall 2, Danny Lynch 1, Gary Rowe 1 and Shahin Bani-sadr 1.
Man of the Match: Couldn't choose as there was 13 of them

13/4/08 Wyvern V Hamble United. Once we found the home ground what a surprise we got, the best pitch we have played on this year it was just a shame the weather wasn't. Wyvern couldn't field a full side so we played against 9 and what a great game they gave us. They kept the score to just two in the first half but when Danny Bellows was but on in the second we opened up the game scoring five including a penalty. We are playing wyvern again on the 22nd and if they bring a full squad we will have our work cut out.
Final Score: Wyvern 1, Hamble United 7.
Hamble Goal Scorers: Shahin Bani-sadr 4, Danny Lynch 1, Mat Camfield 1 and a penalty from Mike Bessant.
Man of the Match: this is a first for me, this week it goes to one of the opposition their big central mid-fielder I think his name is Rico Harris (I hope he's working on the 22nd)

6/4/08 Colden Common 'A' V Hamble United. least said the better about this fixture. the away leg of a not very friendly game at home. Gary Rowe scored the first goal on 5 minutes only for it to be ruled offside and that was the last time the home Ref took any notice of his flag Gary ran past two players to score but it was no more than we expected. Danny Lynch then gave us the lead with a backwards header in the first half we had plenty more opportunities but to no avail. In the second half they got their equalizer and that's how the game finished.
Final Score: Colden Common 'A' 1, Hamble United 1.
Hamble Goal scorers: Danny Lynch 1.
Man of the Match: For his second half performance and the manner in which he conducted himself under sever provocation Andy Dingwall.

9/3/08 Hamble United V Colden Common 'A'. For the first 30 minutes of the first half we camped in their half but couldn't make it pay, then we took are foot off and it turned into a more free flowing game with neither side making the most of their opportunities. Then just before half time Andy Dingwall scored our first giving us the lead at the break. Second half started with the boys playing the same and not our normal game. Then it happened they were awarded a penalty which they converted. Then they went and scored again only for it to be ruled offside, which didn't go down well with Colden Common with some rather unsporting comments being made. Then with only 4 minutes to go we started playing again carving open a chance for Paul Richards to slot pass their keeper. Not the best performance I have seen form the team but 3 points in the bag on the balance of play I think we deserved it just.
Final Score: Hamble United 2, Colden Common 1(pen)
Hamble Goal Scorers: Andy Dingwall 1, Paul Richards 1.
Man of the Match: Danny Lynch

2/3/08 S&D 'B' V Hamble United. This was our first encounter with S & D normally a good side who get stuck in. Today was no different we played on a really small pitch and what looked like small goal but never mind its the same for both sides. We started the game well, having most of the possession. Andy Dingwall opened the scoring with a sweet free kick that Gary Rowe stepped over allowing the ball onto the net. We scored two more goals in the first half thanks to Mike Bessant. We where playing some very good two and three touch football but on one of the rare opportunities that S & D had they scored from a corner which everyone in red switched of from. But that gave us renewed determination and we went on to score a further 4 goals another 2 for Mike Bessant one from Paul Richards a looping header from the back post and the last one from Ben Pointer. S & D battled on and put on a great performance with only 10 players which I was reliably informed was the most they have had for some time.
Final Score: S & D 1, Hamble United 7.
Hamble Goal Scorers: Mike Bessant 4, Andy Dingwall 1, Paul Richards1, Ben Pointer 1.
Man of the Match: All of you an excellent performance all round.

24/2/08 Oakley V Hamble United. This was the first time we have played Oakley in the league but we did beat them 3 - 1 in the cup. They are a good side who may have been distracted today by a group of four young ladies on the sideline. Once again we seemed to be a little flat at the start of the game but we had a new member of the team today. Big Mike Dove our new keeper who fitted into the team really well. We where awarded a free kick on 30 minutes just outside their 18yrs box and what had we been working on at training on Tuesday, free kick and who put most of them away Paul Richards so up he stepped and did it again giving us a 1 goal lead as we went into the break. We came out for the second half and looked a bit livelier. But conceded the equalizer. Then they got fired up battling for every ball Dan Lynch who has been playing in goal for most of the season picked the ball up some 35 yards out and hit a sweet shot into the top left hand corner of the net, the keeper got his fingers to it put couldn't keep it out. The game was played in a great spirit and Referred very well. For a change I'm looking forward to welcoming them at our ground.
Final Score: Oakley 1, Hamble United 2.
Hamble Goal Scorers: Paul Richards1, Danny Lynch 1.
Man of the Match: Mike Dove fitted in well gave everybody confidence pulled off some great stops.

17/2/08 Bishops Waltham Dynamos V Hamble United. We beat this team 4 - 0 at home early in the season, but they proved to be a better side today. There were some very strange decisions made by the Ref who also happened to be their coach. But we stuck to the task at hand and went into the break 1 - 1 all thanks to a Mike Bessant goal. We had the better of the game in the second but could only convert 1 of our chances through Gary Rowe who also hit the post as did Andy Dingwall. All in all I don't think we where every going to win this one but we showed some real team spirit.
Final Score: Dynamos 2, Hamble United 2.
Hamble Goal Scorers: Mike Bessant 1, Gary Rowe 1.

10/2/08 Hamble United V Botley 'A'. Today was the return leg and at least they would get a fair game. the team was taken by Mike and Derek today as I was ill. From what I have been told it was a game of two half's with us dominating the first scoring four and taking our foot off in the second, by all accounts Botley were unlucky not to get a draw. The highlight of the match I have been told was a goal from Gary Rowe, with his back to goal he turned and hit the ball on the volley.
Final Score: Hamble United 4, Botley 'A' 2
Hamble Goal scorers: Paul Richards 1,Gary Rowe 1, Mike Bessant 1, Andy Dingwall 1

3/2/08 Bartley V Hamble United. Today's game was always going to be interesting for one reason or another. Bartley won 2-1 at our ground after our old keeper let the ball run through his legs 2 minutes from time, but the amount of chances we had in that game it should not have really mattered. We arrived at the ground at 9:15am on a very cold morning taking the opportunity to use the changing rooms mainly to keep warm. It has to be said that the behaviour of the lads was exemplary they lessoned to how I wanted the game to go and what I expected from each of them. After warming themselves up on the pitch we got underway. From the whistle we had most of the game and Mike Bessant scored his first on 20 minutes and another just before half time. There were plenty of strange referring decisions that we seemed to be on the end of but that's football. Second half started and again we had most of the game. But then Bartley were gifted a free kick on the edge of the 18yrd box, the player went for goal and it was going a good five yards wide but it hit Ben (chip shop) pointer and ended up in the left hand corner of the net. We then scored our third curtsey of Mathew (cammy) Camfied. Then it happened again Sam McMurray made a fantastic challenge winning the ball outright only for the player to perform an excellent Swallow dive and get a penalty for his efforts. The ball just creeping under Dan Lynch in goal. But two goals was never going to be enough we outplayed and outfight Bartley in every area and to finish the game off Mike Bessant scored his third of the day.
Final Score: Bartley 2, Hamble United 4
Hamble Goal Scorers: Mike Bessant 3, Mathew Camfield 1
Man of the Match: Tough choice today so I going to give it to all 13 off you. That was the best game you have played for a while and the best bit was your attitude before during and after the game. Keep this up and we may well win this league.

27/1/08 Hamble United U16 V Hamble United U18. No game again this week so I hastily arranged a friendly with the U16 and far play to them they where happy to give us a game. U16 keeper Kyle Walshe put on a great display as did young Jake Bessant at the other end. Well done lads and thanks for the game.

6/1/08 Westwood V Hamble United (salvage cup). 8 weeks without a match did us no favours today, neither did the fact that some of our lads don't like to get stuck in. As they say 'is a mans game' and we have to get use to it. Three soft goal cost us as did players abusing their team mates and not concentrating on their own game. Well guess what if it happens again those individuals will find themselves sat on the bench. We didn't deserve to lose by three, but we didn't deserve to win either Westwood played a good physical game I'm sure they must be feed on raw meat but they earned their victory. Hopefully some of our lads will take a long hard look at what they want to achieve and how they want to play/train and change their attitudes. Training Tuesday should be special as Derek is going to work you hard, lets see how many turn up!!!!!
Final Score: Westwood 3, Hamble United 0.
Man of the Match: Mathew Camfield worked hard for 90 minutes helped out in defence and played an intelligent game of football.

4/11/07 St Francis Phoenix V Hamble United. A long way to go for this game, but what a great ground they have. These lads are playing in there second season in U18's and they looked older, I seriously thought their keeper was at least thirty he was as tall as the crossbar. Never the less we want at them from the whistle and James Lyne scored a terrific goal after only four minutes assisted by Mathew 'Cammy' Camfield. Then on ten minutes St Francis were awarded a penalty which they put away. That's how the game stayed for the rest of the half, we were playing excellent football and there was only going to be one winner to this game as long as the continued to play as they had been. Second half started with St Francis taking the lead. The lads raised their game and continued in the same vain as the first half playing wonderful 2 and 3 touch football. Danny Lynch equalised for us with a great chip over the keeper. Then Shahin scored and finally Mike Bessant. The highlight of the game for me was the maturity the lads played with, there was some very heavy tackles going in and the lads just got on with it, poor old Danny Lynch was tackled by two players every time he got hold of the ball and Mike Bessant took an elbow to the head good job he has some much hair as it softened the blow. St Francis Manger spoke to me after the game and said what a great side we are isn't that what i have bee saying for the last three years.
Final Score: St Francis Phoenix 2, Hamble United 4.
Hamble Goal Scorers: James Lyne 1, Danny Lynch 1, Shahin Bani-sadr 1, Mike Bessant 1.
Man Of the Match: This lad must have a surgically implanted smile Ben Pointer well do mate.

28/10/07 Hamble United V Oakley Youth (Salvage Cup) Oakley are in the same league as us so it was going to be interesting playing them for the first time seeing as I never had a clue who they were or where they were from, we have now found out they are from Basingstoke. Anyway a miserable day on a horrible pitch was our first encounter. Dan Lynch played in goal again as our keeper quit and Spud injured himself playing in the men's team on Saturday, and Danny did a first class job as usual. Straight from the whistle we went to work playing the football we are good at, which has been missing the last couple of weeks. There was no point in playing football in the middle of the pitch as it was like playing in a bog. So the trick was to get the ball wide and get your crosses in early which we did. Oakley took the lead mid way through the first half against the run of play. The lads kept going and got the equaliser just before half time. In they came and the team talk consisted of don't hang on to the ball and keep getting it wide. We scored two further goals in the second half which finished the game off. Oakley never stopped fighting but the lads dealt with everything that came there way. Great performances from Ben Pointer and Dan Gregory who were both playing in new positions.
Final Score: Hamble United 3, Oakley Youth 1.
Hamble Goal Scorers: Shahin Bani-sadr 2, Mike Bessant 1.
Man of the Match: Ash Newman great performance mate never stopped working and some superb crosses created at least one goal. (its amazing what you can do when you stop moaning)..!!!

14/10/07 Waterlooville Boys V Hamble United. 3-1 At least it wasn't to far to travel. We didn't turn up to play today. One of you stayed at home to watch TV, I think we would have mean better off if we all had. A physical game with a yellow card being given to a Waterlooville player all in all they deserved their win.
Final Score: Waterlooville 3, Hamble United 1.

7/10/07 Hamble United V Bishops Waltham Dynamos. After a weeks break it was time to get back at it with a match against B/W Dynamos. I had no idea what this team was like as we have never played or heard of them before. We started the game with Dan (Spud) Mayhew in goal and a grand job he did. Straight from the whistle we took control of the game and our first goal came after only 5 minutes with Shahin Bani-sadr going head to head with the keeper and smoothly slotting it pass him. The game then settled down a bit with both teams playing some good football, Dynamos never really had a shouting opportunity as our back four eliminated any treat. So we went into the break 1 up. Again straight from the whistle we took control and again 4 minutes into the second half came our second goal, the keeper fumbled in his box and Gary Rowe was on hand to give us our second. Then on 53 minutes Gary worked an opportunity to get his second and our third. We continued to control the game playing some good football, then on 79 minutes we were awarded a free kick some 25yards out, which James Lyne stepped up to take and with no effort at all bent the ball around the wall and into the top left hand corner of the net leaving the keeper stranded. We hand a couple of further chances but the score stayed 4 - 0. Young mister Rowe had to be carried from the pitch with an injured foot, but thankfully its not to serious.
I know we are only a few weeks into the season but there does seem to be a far better team spirit amongst the lads this year and that will only help on the pitch well do again lads keep it up.
Final Score: Hamble United 4, Bishops Waltham Dynamos 0.
Hamble Goal Scores: Gary Rowe 2, Shahin Bani-sadr 1, James Lyne 1,
Man of the Match: It was a three way tie this week Shahin Bani-sadr, Matthew Curtis and James Lyne. But after consulting with the Coach, we decided to give it to Shahin.

23/9/07 Bashley V Hamble United. Bashley had a good win in there first league game and they also had two of our ex-players. After the long drive into the darkest depths of the new forest we arrived at Boldre. For the first time in a long time all the lads looked awake at 9:15 in the morning. We were without our keeper today so Danny Lynch played in goal and a marvellous job he did. Bashley are a good side and they scored first. But it had no impact on the way the boys played they worked harder and took the opportunities they had. The boys in defence and midfield cancelled out everything that was thrown at them. The half time team talk was easy more of the same and our chances will come and sure enough they did. Early in the second half we put away our first followed quickly by our second butting us 1 -2 up then Bashley scored there second tying the game. The way the lads were playing you could see that they knew the game was there's for the taking so they did. Scoring another 2 goals giving us a two goal cushion. Bashley through everything at us to no avail the back four and midfield stood firm. In the last 2 minutes Bashley scored there third and last goal make the final score at the whistle 3 - 4 to us.
This was a fantastic team performance with everybody playing there part. I was actually horse at the end of the game through talking or should I say shouting so much during the game. Bashley play good football but so did we shutting down every opportunity they had and taking the one's we created. Overall we definitely deserved the win.
Final Score: Bashley Youth 3, Hamble United 4.
Hamble Goal Scorers: Gary Rowe 2, Shahin Bani-sadr 1, Danny Bellows 1.
Man of the match: By unanimous decision, Danny Lynch, Ben Pointer, Dan Gregory, Matt Curtis(capt) Jon Craddock, Ash Newman, Paul Richards, Sam McMurray, Dan Bellows, James Lyne, Mat Camfield, Shahin Bani-sadr, Gary Rowe, Ian Mactaggart.

16/9/07 Hamble United V Bartley. First game of the season and not the best, Bartley are not a bad side but we had most of the chances and played the best football but that's no good if you can put the ball in the net. Bartley scored their first goal halfway through the first half. then on 40mins Gary Rowe ran through the defence for a one on one with the keeper and as cool as a cucumber chipped him to get the equalizer. The second half started much the same as the first, we edged the chances but couldn't convert them. Then 15mins before time Bartley had a free kick just outside the 18yard box, floated the ball into the box nobody attacked the ball and their striker nipped in front of the keeper to score their second and final goal.
Final Score: Hamble United 1, Bartley 2
Hamble Goal Scorers: Gary Rowe 1
Man Of the Match: Dan Gregory well done mate.
